Bradl delighted to get the better of Crutchlow

stefan bradl 2 misano motogp qualifying 2013Stefan Bradl overtook Cal Crutchlow on the final lap to seal a top five finish for the LCR Honda. Having struggled with a lack of front end grip all weekend the German was much happier with his bike during today’s race:

“The front was feeling better because we made big changes to the bike,” said Bradl. “We removed some weight on the front and I was pretty confident in the race but this isn’t an easy track for the front so we made the best out of it on Sunday and I’m really happy to have a good result after a tough weekend.”

The battle with Crutchlow lasted the entire 28 lap distance and afterwards Bradl was clearly delighted to have come out ahead of his rival:

It wasn’t easy because he was really strong for the whole race but I could see an advantage for me in braking so I tried my move and it was really close! Cal took the inside and almost came back but I managed to pass him in a great way so I’m really happy with that.”

When asked after the race for his thoughts on the fight Crutchlow admitted that this was a very tough race but that there was little he could do to stop Bradl when the Honda rider made his move:

The Honda is always stronger under braking than the Yamaha and Bradl just bided his time and after sitting behind me he could just figure out where to pass.”
