Marquez ready for home GP

Marc Marquez Stefan Bradl Le Mans MotoGP Qualifying 2013 (5)Marc Marquez was bounced around at the last round of the MotoGP world championship with the Spanish rookie crashing heavily on Friday-in the fastest recorded crash in Grand Prix racing history-as well as on Saturday and Sunday. The Honda rider however will be looking to bounce back at his home Grand Prix at the Circuit de Catalunya.

When asked about how he was feeling two weeks after a difficult Italian Grand Prix the reigning Moto2 champions said:

“I am nearly 100% and I feel good for the Montmelo GP,” said Marquez. “After Mugello I recovered well and now I am ready for it. Mugello was a tough weekend, especially Friday afternoon.”

Marc Marquez Le Mans MotoGP Race 2013A rookie season is about learning from your mistakes and given that Marquez was battling for the podium in the race it was clear that even though he was physically damaged following his crashes he was still able to get a much better understanding of the bike as the week progressed and even though he crashed out of a certain podium finish-having just overtaken his teammate, Dani Pedrosa-Marquez was pleased with his progress.

“We learned about everything and in the race even though we were sliding all weekend in the race we there [at the front] but it was and even though we crashed we were second. Mugello was one of the points that I marked at the beginning of the season as one of the most difficult circuits, here too. You need to have a lot of confidence in the bike to be fast.”

It will be a homecoming for Marquez, who lives in Barcelona, and he made it clear that this is his home Grand Prix:

“Jerez [the Spanish Grand Prix] was so special but Montmelo is my home circuit and it is a circuit that I live near so it will be nice to be here in front of our fans and I hope that they come on Sunday and push every rider.”
