Japanese MotoGP postponed

Unsurprisingly the Japanese MotoGP has been postponed in the wake of the earthquake and tsunami that has hit the Asian country last week.

The race, due to take place on April 24 at the Motegi circuit, will be rescheduled for later in the year. This is the second year in a row that the race has been postponed due to environmental issues; last season the Icelandic ash cloud caused the race to be moved to October. A similar date change should be verified in the near future with a suitable gap between the Aragon and Australian races.

While damage to the circuit has been confirmed as quite minimal there was substantial damage to nearby towns and as a result it was deemed impossible to accommodate the teams and media for the race.
